Since 2021, Hans Natorp has served as Chairman of the Danish Sports Federation (DIF), the national umbrella organization for sport in Denmark. DIF represents more than 60 sports associations, which organize around 9,000 sports clubs with over 2.1 million members. It is also the main governing body for organized sport in Denmark and acts as the country’s National Olympic Committee.
As former elite sailor, Natorp represented Denmark at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. He has been a Council Member of World Sailing and Chairman of the Danish Sailing Union and served as DIF’s Vice-President from 2016 to 2021. In addition to his role at DIF, he currently sits on the board of Danske Spil A/S, the state-owned gaming company that makes a significant financial contribution to Danish community sport.
Under Natorp’s leadership, DIF continues to play a vital role in the development and promotion of community sport across all levels. The organization provides financial support, strategic guidance and practical resources to its member associations, with a strong focus on ensuring that young people have access to safe and enjoyable physical activities. A cornerstone of Danish sport is its volunteer culture, which DIF actively promotes.
Moreover, the federation is deeply invested in safeguarding the integrity of sport. It plays a key role in establishing and upholding systems to combat doping and match-fixing, while placing strong focus on good governance.
Natorp and his colleagues at DIF believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate in sport and physical activity, regardless of age or ability. Achieving this vision requires not only effective organizational skills, but also strong political will and a commitment to providing essential knowledge, facilities, and accessible spaces.
